ESPN West Palm Adds Former Coach Chris Kokell to its High School Football Coverage
WEST PALM BEACH, FL (August 21, 2013) – Good Karma Broadcasting, LLC (GKB)’s ESPN West Palm announces today its Thursday night high school football show, “Football Night in South Florida” will have a new sound this fall. Beginning August 29, 2013, Chris Kokell, a veteran Palm Beach County football coach will call the games on ESPN 106.3 for the 2013 season. ESPN West Palm host Jeremy Marks-Peltz will join Kokell in the broadcast booth as the play-by-play announcer.
"Football Night in South Florida has become one of the premiere week-to-week events in Palm Beach County and the Treasure Coast, and we believe that Coach Kokell is the right person to help spotlight the great stories within our community,” said ESPN 106.3 afternoon drive host Evan Cohen.
Kokell comes to ESPN West Palm after three seasons as the head coach at Forest Hill High School in West Palm Beach. Prior to Forest Hill, Kokell served as head coach for the Pope John Paul II Eagles in Boca Raton for two seasons.
Growing up listening to sports talk radio in New York has always made me want to get into broadcasting, which is why this opportunity with ESPN West Palm was a no-brainer for me," Kokell said.
ESPN West Palm will now have two former high school football coaches on its team; former Inlet Grove and Suncoast coach Jimmie Bell has also joined ESPN West Palm as the in-game analyst for the Oxbridge Academy football broadcasts which begin August 30 at Glades Day.
Football Night in South Florida, the area’s only Thursday night high school football broadcast, spotlights two of the top teams in the Palm Beaches and Treasure Coast. The full schedule of Thursday night games will be released this Friday, August 23, 2013 on “High School Hysteria,” ESPN West Palm’s high school preview show which airs Fridays from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. (EST) on ESPN 106.3 and online at ESPNWestPalm.com.
