BOCA RATON, FL - Ken LaVicka of ESPN760 has been named full time play-by-play commentator for Florida Atlantic football.
LaVicka takes over the role on a full time basis after serving in a fill-in capacity for the past two seasons. LaVicka already serves as the voice of Owls' basketball in addition to hosting both FAU Sportspage Coaches Call-In Radio Show featuring Coach Howard Schnellenberger and Coach Mike Jarvis.
"Having Ken serve as the radio voice of FAU football brings a certain level of comfort to the audience," said FAU Athletic Director Craig Angelos. "Our fans can count on hearing the same voice week in and week out."
LaVicka's ESPN 760 colleague Jason Pugh will serve as the color commentator for FAU football. Pugh will bring a unique perspective to the broadcast as a former Owls player, who was a member of the 2003 team that advanced to the Division I-AA semifinals.
"Jason's knowledge of the game of football and the team along with the passion he brings as an FAU alum will definitely come through in the broadcast," said Angelos. ESPN760 is the official broadcast partner of FAU Athletics, serving as the flagship station for both Owls' football and basketball as well as the home of the FAU SportsPage Radio show. Owls broadcast football games can be also heard on 640AM in Broward County.
The FAU football team begins the 2011 season on September 3 when they face the Florida Gators in Gainesville.
