Radio and television sports anchor Jason Pugh was the featured speaker at a cocktail reception hosted by the Greater Palm Beach County chapter of JDRF.
The reception took place Oct. 9 at The Ritz-Carlton and included cocktails, hors d’oeuvres, music and brief remarks from Pugh. The on-air sports anchor for ESPN 760 AM and WPTV spoke on the importance of charitable giving and corporate sponsorship.
The chapter’s major events this season are the Ride to Cure Diabetes, which will take place Nov. 17 in Tucson, Ariz.; the Gem of an Evening Gala at The Ritz-Carlton in Manalapan on Feb. 2; the Walk to Cure Diabetes events on March 2 in West Palm Beach, April 6 in Boca Raton and April 13 in Stuart; and the Bluegreen Charity Golf Tournament on May 18 in Palm Beach Gardens.
Proceeds from all events benefit JDRF. Formerly known as the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, JDRF’s mission is to “educate the Type-1 diabetes community, and to unify global efforts to cure, treat, and prevent the disease, in both children and adults.”
