In a career full of awards and milestones, Kelvin Taylor has earned yet another.

 

For a second straight year, the Glades Day running back was named Class 2A Player of the Year by the Florida Dairy Farmers Monday, and is now in the running for the Florida Mr. Football honor.

 

Taylor, whose father Fred was a Jacksonville Jaguars hall-of-famer and former University of Florida star RB, rushed for just over 2,400 yards and 41 TD's this season. He has more rushing touchdowns than any other player in Florida high school history after bursting onto the scene as an 8th grader. In a game against district foe Village Academy in October, Taylor ran for 7 scores.

 

Taylor won the Lou Groza Award High School Football Player of the Year award last week, edging American Heritage RB Greg Bryant, a Notre Dame commit who finished 2nd in 3A voting.

 

Taylor is committed to Florida and will move to Gainesville in Januray as an early enrollee. 

 

Taylor and Glades Day advanced to the 2A state semifinals this past season before losing to eventual state runner-up Dade Christian.
