ESPN West Palm's "coach", Chris Kokell, gives a comprehesive film breakdown of high school football prospects across Palm Beach County and the Treasure Coast.
School: Park Vista (Class of 2015)
Where He Excels:
Quick off the ball. Good use of explosiveness to shoot through gaps. Stays low in stance and keeps legs driving. When engaged with bigger offensive linemen, Casadei does of good job driving them back into the play. Good hand fits. Shows a variety of moves mixing in rip and swim moves. Love Casadei’s high motor. Never gives up on the play. Smart player that attacks the football when attacking ball carriers and gets his arms in passing lanes when he can’t get to the passer.
What To Work On:
While Casadei does a great job pushing through the OL, his tackles are always diving at the ball carrier. He does not have one big hit in the backfield where he punishes the ball carrier. He needs to bring the same intensity to tackling as he does to getting off blocks. Good RB's and QB's will be able to break his diving arm tackles. Casadei should focus intensely on speed training to give him the ability to play backer or stand-up rush end in college.
Kokell Film Analysis:
Nick Casadei is fun to watch and the kind of player every defensive coordinator wants on their front seven. After watching his film, it makes a lot more sense to me how Park Vista head coach Brian Dodds was able to get his Cobras into the playoffs. Teammates feed off of his energy, and his nose for the big play gives Casadei the ability to change the momentum of the game on every snap. At only 5'11, 225 lbs. I see him as an undersized DL at the next level that could use his motor to make up for his lack of size. If Casadei really puts in the work to get faster he could possibly make the transition to linebacker.
