Brihm, Brown choose Bethune-Cookman

FCS Bethune-Cookman is getting a duo of FBS-type talents from Palm Beach County.

Palm Beach Gardens WR Frank Brown and Village Academy QB Larry Brihm both committed to Bethune-Cookman on Monday morning, ending the underwhelming recruiting process of two of the county's more underappreciated players.

Brown saw success in a Gardens offense that catered to the run, especially in his breakout junior season, but was not able to grab an FBS offer despite heavy interest from schools like FAU, Florida, and FIU. In fact, Brown was scheduled to take an official visit to FIU this weekend but scrapped it in order to give his pledge to Bethune-Cookman. Gardens made back-to-back playoff appearances in Brown's junior and senior seasons, advancing to the regional finals in 2011.

Brihm was one of Palm Beach County's most talented quarterbacks and is the only signal-caller the young Village Academy program has ever known. He exploded for over 2,250 yards passing, and 21 TD's to four interceptions, in his junior year. His numbers dipped to 1,700 yards through the air and 18 TD's this past year, but Village was plagued by wide receiver drops most of the season. Brihm can also use his legs. He ran for over 500 yards in each of his final two years. Despite his production, no FBS school ever bit on him.

Brihm's teammate, RB Erich Maine, committed to another FCS school, Robert Morris, several weeks ago.
